Old Reserve was originslly produced by Christian Xander, the first in a line of whiskey- producing Xanders from Washington, D.C. His relative listed on this bottle, Karl Xander, joined him in the liquor business. A 1904 advertisement in The Washington Times suggests Xander might have been among the pioneers of ready-made cocktails.
